privacy coins still can't say what they're for, besides trading

privacy coins like monero and zcash promise private, untraceable payments. the pitch is old, but most of the trading volume is still speculation, not people paying for things. the question of what they are actually used for keeps coming back whenever the sector pumps.

805Kviews

285replies

243reposts

HOW TO CHECK IT YOURSELF

look up monero and zcash on coingecko and compare trading volume to market cap
check how many exchanges still list privacy coins and which have delisted them
look at on-chain activity on a monero or zcash explorer and compare it to the price action

WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU
if you trade privacy coins, know whether you're buying a use case or a narrative. price moves on hype can reverse fast when real usage doesn't back them up. not financial advice.

elon says a 2028 dem sweep would be 'game over for america', 150k likes

elon posted that if democrats win the house, senate and presidency in 2028, they could make dc and puerto rico states, legalize people living in the us illegally and expand the supreme court. he said the fix is 51 republican senators in 2029. he also said he voted early in texas and told people to 'vote republican!'. the posts got about 7M views. markets are wobbling the same day, but the link between the two is our read, not something he said.

HOW TO CHECK IT YOURSELF

open @elonmusk on X and find the three posts: the 2028 warning, the early vote and 'Vote Republican!'
check the view and like counts on the main post
compare with btc on coingecko the same day to see the market backdrop yourself

WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU
the richest man in crypto-adjacent culture is openly campaigning, so expect political headlines to keep feeding the news cycle. treat it as noise unless policy actually moves, and this is not financial advice.

anthropic may ipo as junk, per ft

per the ft, blackstone has told investors that anthropic likely won't get an investment-grade rating right after its ipo, which could come as soon as november. the company is expected to be rated 'high junk'. blackstone is working with the banks that financed the debt to sell it on to other investors. kobeissi letter flagged that an investment-grade rating is 'central' to the ai buildout, and the company says it expects to spend over $800 billion on computing infrastructure between now and 2045. it lands as tech sits in a bear market, intel is down 30%, deutsche bank warns of an ai selloff and house democrats push a 'no bailout for ai firms' resolution.

HOW TO CHECK IT YOURSELF

read the original ft report on blackstone and the anthropic debt
check the ratings from the agencies once the ipo is filed
compare the $800 billion compute spend claim with company filings

WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOU
the ai darling may list with a junk rating just as funding gets tighter. a rating that low makes the debt-fuelled buildout pricier, and the story only matters if the ipo actually happens as reported.
